Match report Northwood Town welcomed West Herts II in a must win game with relegation looming over both teams.

Winning the toss West Herts II asked Northwood Town to bat first. On what looked like a good batting wicket Town lost skipper Loomba early on. In-form batsmen Vadgama and Lister took on the bowling quickly adding 41 runs before batsmen gave away their wicket after a good start. With wickets falling regularly Town were reduced to 112/7 and stuttering. In came vice skipper K Patel at no 9 who took time to settle in and then started to smash West Herts bowlers to all parts of the ground. Patel ended up scoring his first 50 for the 1s with score of 56. He was very well supported by J Cotton who scored 24* and the pair put on 66 runs partnership in 11 overs to get Town to a competitive score of 201.

After a lovely tea made by Vadgama town took to the field with full confidence. First ball of West Herts II inning Vadgama got Mason out LBW offering a no shot. That set the tempo for the rest of the game. On the other end C Silva cut through West Herts II batting line up like a hot knife through butter. West Herts batsmen had no answers to Silva’s nagging line and ended up with match wining figures of 31/5. Young Wasi wrapped up the inning by taking the last wicket which saw West Herts II all out for just 80 runs.

Loomba spoke after the game: It was an outstanding performance from Town’s lower order batsmen showing the batting strength all the way to number 11. Silva’s spell was absolutely class. We’ll look to make it 3 wins on the bounce next week travelling away to Hertford III.
