Match report Skipper Raj Kotecha was away on holiday, and therefore Vice Captain Nishil Mapara stepped in to fulfil the Captain's duties.

Northchurch 2's won the toss and opted to bowl, hoping to take their fine form into the game.

Northwood Town 2's got off to a nervy start, as the Northchurch openers, Fidler and Randall, were swinging the ball and bowling with great accuracy. The bowlers were quickly rewarded with wickets, before the familiar town middle order collapse. Town found themselves at 23/6.

In came Skipper Mapara (48), who had not hit a ball since February, and this was clear to see as Mapara struggled to get bat to ball for quite some time. However, Mapara dug deep and fought hard to protect his wicket, before getting his eye in and playing a measured innings to achieve 48 runs on his first game of the season. There were impressive cameos from Wasi (26) who took the attack to the Northchurch bowlers, and R Patel (18) who partnered Mapara for most of his innings.

Northchurch were set 128 runs to chase which was not nearly enough on a par 280 run track according to the opposition umpire. Northchurch chased the total down with ease, with only Katira obtaining a wicket for his troubles. Syed was unlucky not to get a wicket also, as his short spell was a brilliant spell of swing bowling.

Vice captain Mapara said 'It was a tough game today and we were outclassed in virtually every department. However, we must look at the bigger picture, we were missing some key players today, and Northchurch are one of the, if not, the best team in the division. Hopefully, availability improves and we can get the 30 points that we need next Saturday. A massive thank you to Northchurch who showed great sportmanship during and after the game, and a big thank you to Northchurch's umpire who did a great job on the day umpiring both ends'.
