Match report Town 3s travelled to St Albans 4th XI on a hot and humid day. Town won the toss and we decided to have a bowl. Pratik and Mitesh bowling superb line and lengths stifling runs and the run rate for the first 10 overs was under 2runs an over. Minesh and Kishan were bought in just before the first drinks break and both bowled with great control. At 23 over mark the score was 52-3. Town really should have turned the screw, however St Albans batsmen had a different idea. They built partnerships despite the excellent from Nishil and Ben (to help fill a void). The bowlers on any other day would have skittle out the batting line up but credit goes to St Albans batsmen for playing with patience. St Albans finished on 171 for 6.

After Tea Town openers took to the ground with a view to make this a quick day. Salman hitting a shot which everyone thought was going for a four, but one of St Albans colts had a different idea and took a spectacular one handed catch. Ben hit a quick fire 53 (8 x4, 1 x6). When Ben got out in the 12th over Town were on 64/3. From here on in we should have taken quick singles and made singles in to 2’s. However Town struggled and allowed the scoreboard to stop ticking over. Some good batting from Ajay, Kishan, Pratik and Minesh gave Town some hope but ultimately we were well behind the run rate and last 2 batsman had to go in and swing their bats. Town all out for 158 after 38.2overs. St Albans walking away as winners and yet another close game.

Stand-in skipper Prakash was left feeling disappointed after the game. We should have never given away more than 130 runs based on opposition being on 52 runs at the 23rd over mark. And the batting whilst at times being good (excellent from Ben) batsmen need to work on taking quick singles. Normal service resumes next week with JB back.
