Northwood Town Cricket Club Sunday XI v Boxmoor on Sun 04 May 2014 at 2pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 60 runs

Match report On a beautifully sunny day Northwood Town C.C. got their Sunday season off to a flying start with a 60 run victory over a decent quality and good spirited Boxmoor C.C. Having won the toss, newly appointed Sunday captain J.B. had no hesitation in electing to bat on an early season green top that had been played on the day before. Town's openers R.Patel and K.Patel proved why, by going about their task of blunting Boxmoor's new ball attack sturdily whilst building a solid 44 run partnership. At the fall of the third wicket vice captain Krunal Patel arrived at the crease to join man of the match Michael Lister (71 n.o.) who showed his class with the bat, taking town past 100 in a 50 run partnership with Patel and then with the tail guided Town to a very good score of 169. After a rather fulfilling tea Town came out raring to go and opening strike bowlers Parmar and Ghaffar left Boxmoor nothing but scraps to feed off of as they worked their way through the top order backed up well by Nic Patel. Ghaffar wasn't finished yet though as he sprung to life to take a superb Burty-esque diving catch. Boxmoor's tall No 7 arrived at the crease and decided to tee off bringing them back into the game but Town skipper J.B. had two more aces up his sleeve, having firstly brought on the deadly accurate spin of Krunal Patel, unleashed the devastating Minesh Vadgama who set about destroying what hope Boxmoor had left with a magnificent spell of fast bowling claiming four wickets, all clean bowled. K.P. took the final wicket of Boxmoor's stand out batsman Desai to wrap up what was an outstanding display in the field with solid work from Rizvi and a superb as always display from behind the stumps by Tailor. When you look at today's scorecard you could say about Town's performance that batsmen score runs and bowlers take wickets but there's a little bit more to add to it than that because when you've got to feed eleven guys who are hungry for success and willing to put their bodies on the line for their club, playing the game they love with brownies at tea and all for just a fiver, how can you lose?
