Match report Town hosted Ware this week in a bottom of the league contest as Town looked to secure their position in this league for next season. On a good track, Town won the toss and elected to bat first. Keeran and Deepak opened for Town and Deepak was looking good early on till he hit one straight to point. In came Smit and together with Keeran stayed in and steadied the ship for a while. Keeran started to score, hitting a couple of sixes and boundaries but then tried to hit one too many and hit one straight to gully. Smit soon tried to go over the top and skied one straight in the air and this brought in two new batsmen. Town started to lose wickets at a steady pace with starts from Bijendra and Neel, but the flow of wickets halted when Sajid and Krunal Puwar batted together putting together a great partnership to carry the team to a decent total of 192 with Sajid scoring 31 and Krunal Puwar scoring 53.

After a quick tea, Town headed out to defend their total and started off well, with Sajid taking 1 wicket and Henry taking a wicket. Krunal Puwar came in with Hiren and bowling together, the boys put the pressure onto Ware with KP taking 4 wickets. Hiren also taking a wicket gave Town the chance they needed to defend 192. However, after taking the 8th wicket, Ware’s number 10 came out and with the number 7, they put together an 80-run partnership, keeping out all the bad balls, being patient and frustrating the bowlers with their patience. The resilience of the batsmen allowed Ware’s batsmen to take them over line and win the game, ending at 193 – 8. Tough defeat to take but Town knew they can spring back next week.
