Match report NTTC 3XI hosted a friendly with locally based Rickmansworth Cricket Club 5XI team. Town lost the toss and the visitors elected to bat first on an overcast day. Rickmansworth CC, lost three quick wickets before a watchful innings by their skipper A Patel 66 (8 x 4s) and tail end support ensured they clocked up a respectful total of 156 runs.

As ever, T Katira’s bowling was controlled and consistent conceding only 19 runs off 8 overs and taking 2 wickets. S Razvi produced an excellent spell of seam bowling resulting in 4/23 off 5.4 overs. D.Soory, R Ramawat, S Zubair and J Bentvelzen provided some excellent bowling support.

H Jairazbhoy and J Bentvelzen opened the batting account for NTTC, the later wasted no time in his opening spell with the bat, attacking the Rickmansworth bowlers from the start with ease, however, the fall of the first wicket came with just 18 on the scoreboard. A Parmar 18, gracefully dropped anchor and provided a solid partnership with J Bentvelzen, before J Bentvelzen was dismissed for 37 (7 x 4s). With Town on 54/2, V Patel was equally in no mood to mess around and constructed a controlled innings of 39 (7 x 4s) ably supported by A Parmar. Town then lost two wickets to mark a score of 120/4, after which R Patel 20 not out (3 x 4s) with the support of subsequent batsmen saw town home.

In summary, a great match was had against a superbly friendly opposition. It was rewarding to see just how well the NTCC 3XI players are continuing to form and develop as a team. With everyone stepping up to the mark when required and ensuring 100% effort is delivered each and every time. Rickmansworth CC 5XI was an honourable and friendly opponent and I hope there will be an opportunity for a rematch in the future.
