Match report After two losses in the past two weeks, Town knew that to save themselves from relegation, they needed to win all games starting with this one. The road to safety would be tough, but it could be done so with that in mind, Town headed to the grounds to start their path to safety. After winning the toss on a sunny day, Town elected to bowl first, aiming to make use of their great bowling attack and batting depth today. Opening the bowling was Sajid and Henry, bowling a 9-over spell between them and really putting the pressure onto the opposition. Whilst Henry did concede a few runs and did not manage to take a wicket, Sajid’s spell was excellent, bowling 3 maidens, conceding 5 runs and taking 2 wickets, all in a 5 over spell. After a fantastic start by the opening bowlers, Krunal Puwar and Mairaj stepped in and tried to apply the squeeze, taking 3 wickets between them, and not allowing Datchworth to build a score. However, the introduction of Iqbal Butt was game-changing for Datchworth in his 5-over spell, conceding 13 runs, 2 maidens and taking 5 wickets, including a great catch from short gully by Keeran. Town’s top bowling and fielding performance allowed them to bowl Datchworth for a meagre 101 runs in 30.2 overs.

After an extra long tea break due to the extreme heat, Town headed to bat with Ravi and Bijendra opening the batting. Bjiendra started off well, playing aggressively as is natural to him and scoring the boundaries he does, whilst Ravi was unfortunate, trapped in his crease and bowled. Amish came in 1 down and scored a very respectable 26 not out, supporting Bijendra all the way and leading Town to a great run chase of 103-1 in just 16.3 overs. A brilliant bowling and fielding performance really gave Town the edge in this game and allowed them to easily chase Datchworth’s score. Although there was a long way to go, Town had started the road to safety with the first win they needed.
