Match report Town welcomed Chorleywood II at home to keep their winning run going. Day was more special with Rudra Shah, NTCC’s bright young prospect making his debut for the 1s. J Daly who’s been a coach and mentor to him delivered a short speech handing over debut cap. Town won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Town seamers of Daly and Vadgama started well with Chorleywood going at 3 an over leaving them 48/1 after 12 overs. R Shah making his debut started his first over with few nerves but quickly settled in to remove dangerous looking Aspinall. It was a moment wildly celebrated by all the players. Who would have thought on the day that would be only 1 of 2 positives to take from the game. Other being I Anjum who was class above the rest and picked up 22/3 in his 10 over. However, from being 130/6 Chorleywood II tail enders ended up putting 207 on the board. Town’s sloppy fielding in the last 10 overs costed them 30/35 runs extra. R Shah finished his spell 23/1 from his 6 overs.

Not much to write about Town’s batting as top order batsmen all gifted their wickets away. At 33/5 A Burt and I Anjum put on 50 runs partnership together to start a fightback but in the end town limped to 114 all out. Chorleywood II winning by 93 runs.

Skipper K Patel spoke after the game: Absolutely delighted with R Shah’s debut today. Hopefully he goes on to take many more wickets for Town! We were completely outplayed n all three departments today. Fielding especially let us down but we have a massive game coming up next week against top of the table Welwyn Garden City II so boys won’t need any motivation for that game!!
