30 Second Interview...

When did you play your first cricket match and how did you get on?
In 1990 as a wee 10 year old for Northwood Town Under 13s against Pinner. William Wells was my skipper and I opened the bowling and cleaned up their opener on the third ball. Having said that, it did bounce three times before hitting the wicket! Was a bit scared of the ball (Pussy Alert!) so insisted on batting 11 and made 13 not out in a crushing defeat. Didn't win a match all season.
What's the funniest moment you've witnessed on a cricket field?
Simon 'Eddie' Woodward against Boxmoor in the early Noughties. Adam Flanagan bowled two great legspinners in a row, which on both occasions the Boxmoor batsman danced down the wicket to, took a swipe and missed it by miles. Eddie The Eagle characteristically couldn't gather the ball both times and the batsman survived - which prompted howls of derision from all of us fielding. On the third ball, the batsman remained rooted in his crease, played and missed, and Eddie - so shocked to collect the ball cleanly - smashed down the stumps with his gloves and proclaimed "WHAT ABOUT THAT ONE THEN?!" while gurning at the Umpire. Legendary.

iPhone, Solar Powered Charger for iPhone, and a stress reliever in case I get any flashbacks of Hillsy's field placements
