Northwood Town Cricket Club News story

NTCC start of season party, KP’s birthday and Old boys day. Saturday 10th May

10 May 2025

Hello everyone, I hope that given the recent good weather you are excited for the upcoming league cricket season. With the town season already underway we are planning to have our traditional start of season party on the date of the first league game.

This year we have a particular treat as we will also be celebrating Krunal Patel’s birthday as well. This will be a fantastic opportunity to wish him well and share a story/drink/laugh with one of the most loved Town members. Please do come down even if only for a bit to celebrate his big 40! A first team stalwart, this bowler is currently 3rd on the wicket taker list for the modern era, he is also one of the longest hitters of a cricket ball you are ever likely to see. If he doen’t perform on the pitch he is sure to at the bar.

NTCC Old Boys/Vice Presidents Day

The club invites former Northwood Town CC players and Vice Presidents to join us down the club for the opening 1st XI league match of the season on Saturday May 10th vs Kings Langley 1st XI - and for the start of season party and BBQ afterwards. The match starts at midday and the bar will be open all day. For lovers of old stats, you're in for a treat as courtesy of Dave Harding's efforts over the years you'll be able to look through a file containing all the NTCC averages year by year from 1973 to 2008 - the period not covered by the current NTCC website. Some fascinating material in there!

Once we have the bar open I’m sure you will be treated to some excellent cricket followed by an NTCC BBQ, time TBC but after play has finished. Some hungry cricketers and supporters will surely appreciate this with a beer or a soft drink to end the day.

Being such an important day NTCC committee are excited to say that we will be announcing our newly structured top tier with some extra prizes to be won by our wonderful members

Finally the NTCC sponsorship lottery which has been set up and managed by Sumeet will be able to draw a winner! This brilliant initiative has already had an excellent uptake and is due to help NTCC greatly, all entries are appreciated and will be recognised properly. And to our winner we look forward to a wonderful year being sponsored by you. If you want to enter please do get in touch either with myself or Sumeet.

All players who are away are encouraged to make it back to the club ASAP to get this year underway.

Hope to see many of you there,

Jack
