REPORT: NTCC vs Wealdstone FC Rematch 2026!

07 Jul 2026

Could Northwood Town’s dubiously titled ‘Legends’ team gain revenge against Adam Hills’s Wealdstone FC Supporters XI after last year’s slaying?

Not quite, but it went down to the wire with Wealdstone winning by two wickets with just two balls to spare. More importantly, it proved to be a hugely enjoyable and well supported day on June 7th.

In a 25 overs per side match, NTCC were led by the legendary Akshay Loomba - whose retirement from playing lasted less time than a drinking session with Dr Brent.

It was great to see him back for a one off cameo - and his classy undefeated innings of 50 helped Town to reach 132 batting first. Ravi Ramawat (18) and Kunal Patel (14) also chipped in to give the home side a respectable total on a tricky pitch.

In response, Wealdstone were up against it at 41/4 after 10 overs as Keval Shah and Stanley Babukutty bowled fine opening spells. A swashbuckling 38 from Hillsy brought the visitors back into contention - and with 19 needed off 12 balls with four wickets left the game was on a knife edge.

Ultimately, despite a couple of late run outs, Wealdstone had just enough to scrape home. Oh well!

It was fantastic to see former Mighty 3s skipper Rajul Patel back in his whites at Chestnut Avenue after a few years away - and the occasion was made even more special by his hugely talented son Arjun playing alongside him too!

A huge thanks to Colin Lynch for kindly umpiring and to everyone who helped behind the bar on the day. Well done to Hillsy for assembling another great side for the Stones, who played with great spirit throughout the day.

Let’s hope we can keep this annual fixture going - by 2029 the Town could be 3-2 up!
