NORTHWOOD TOWN claimed 18 points from their encounter with Harpenden and whilst disappointed with not claiming a vital 30 points, they will feel pleased with a dominant performance. Phil Carter was the Town star as he turned in a vintage display to spearhead Town's supremacy.

Batting first, Town were rocked by the early dismissal of Glenn Hodges, but Jim Cotton joined Scott Walker to settle the side down and build a partnership of 58. Cotton (29) played his usual anchor role to keep one end tight whilst Walker produced a solid 36. With two wickets lost on 78, the game reached a vital point where the visitors would need to ensure they did not lose vital momentum. Step forward Phil Carter who showed an impressive array of shots in a classy unbeaten innings of 79. Having been sidelined by injury
for the last two weeks, Town were indebted to Carter who rolled back the years with a fine display. Richard Robbins (46) played more than a supporting role with a 90 run partnership to put Town firmly on the front foot. Veer Vadgama (13*) produced a cameo innings at the end but it was Carter who took the plaudits as the visitors were able to finish their innings on a daunting looking 246-6.

In reply, Harpenden looked in trouble at 66-4 and 110-5. Johannes Van Ee claimed 3-55 and Raj Kotecha 2-30 as the visitors looked to press home their advantage. However the hosts decided to knuckle down and Town struggled to make anymore real impact. Even the part-time bowling option of Hodges was brought into play and whilst he claimed a rare wicket, there was little more cheer for Town. The game petered out to a tame draw with Harpenden finishing on 166-8.
