Eversholt II v Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 19 Jun 2010 at 1.00 pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Lost by 40 runs

Match report Following two heavy defeats NTCC had a long trip to Eversholt to confront a team that the previous week had thrashed Botany Bay the division leaders at that time.On winning the toss skipper Dave Harding elected to field and this decision seemed justified when Adam Hills and Mo Abbasi made early inroads and Eversholt were soon 26 for 3. Then followed a partnership of 70 runs by the Eversholt 4th wicket pair until the introduction of Pradip Pandey resulted in him claiming the wicket of Eversholt skipper Garrett for 54. The Town continued taking wickets at regular intervals which was mainly due to a sustained spell of excellent bowling by Abassi who benefitting from a disciplined off stump line was eventually rewarded with his first five wicket haul for the club after a marathon stint of 21 continuous overs. Pandey also bowled well to finish with 4 for 54 but the good work by the bowlers was disappointingly undone by a fine 33 run partnership by the Eversholt last wicket pair which pushed the opposition on from 151 for 9 to an eventual total of 184.
For Town to persue their first win Dave Harding was reliant on the the Towns top order batting performing and after a attacking start from Ed Johnson and Rao Ganisetti 27 runs were scored in the first 5 overs. Sadly Johnson was then out for 10 and the Towns innings was soon in despair when Senanayaka, Hills and Pandey were dismissed in the space of 16 runs and the Town were reduced to 43 for 4. Sumeet Khetia then joined Ganisetti and through sensible batting started to rebuild the Town's innings and their fine partnership was ended when Khetia was out for 18. Ganisetti continued to flourish and played some excellent strokes and was just approaching his fifty when his "lightning running between the wickets" failed him and he was run out for a excellent 48. With his dismissal the Eversholt total provided too many runs for Town to chase and despite some lusty hitting from Taz Katira the innings ended on 144 some 41 runs of a winning total.
All in all skipper Dave Harding was extremely pleased with the teams performance against an in-form team who had posted scores in excess of 250 runs in their two previous games. The turning points for the Town was the last wicket partnership of 33 runs by Overshot which lifted their score from an attainable 151 to 184 and the failure of the 3 main bats who unfortunately only scored 8 runs between them. Encouragingly for the Town was the tremendous spirit that continues to thrive in the team despite the hardships and this was complimented on by three or four of the Overshot players after the game,
