Match report Northwood Town picked up a good win against wandering side Red Square Lions in a competitive friendly match at Chestnut Avenue on Sunday. With the visitors made up of people who either work or worked for the Economist and Town fielding the likes of Shaun O'Neill there was little in common in intelligence terms. However, Town were bolstered by a good crowd who gave encouragement throughout the game.

Skipper Adam Hills won the toss and elected to bat first. Town progress was fairly slow in the first half of their innings of 40 overs. Ali Chaudry scored a patient 28 but with the score on 61/3 after 20, Town looked in a litte trouble. It was a fifth wicket partnership of 87 between Hills (33) and Shaun O'Neill (51) that put Town's innings back on track and they ended their innings with a decent score of 197/8.

In reply a lively opening spell from Mo Abbasi (3/16) supported by Taz Katira (1/18) saw Town put their opponents on the backfoot as they slumped to 34/4 from 12 overs. Again it was the fifth wicket partnership of 69 from Whyte and Ridgers that gave the hosts hope but Hills rotated the bowlers to good effect with Rukshan Senanayaka (2/37) finally ending the partnership. Town's all round fielding performance was excellent and catches were taken and wickets shared as Shaun O'Neill (2/6) and Rao Ganisetti (1/21) were able to wrap up the visitors tail as they were all out for 151.
