Match report Northwood Town’s Sunday XI were once again involved in a nail biting finish.

After having lost the toss; first time skipper Abdul Firfire was thankful to be put in to bat considering the strong batting side Town had at their disposal. However, after the heavy rain the day before the sticky wicket proved to be a challenge as the vistors found themselves three down with only 8 runs on the board with plenty of overs to come.

With Kyle Lawrence at the crease Town began to recover; ably supported by Katira (15), Vipul Patel(9) and Conor O’Neill (9), Lawrence blasted fourteen fours and six sixes on his way to a superb 132 as town posted 190. Once again Town failed to bat out their allocation of overs; a statistic that will need to improve for better results.

Bamville got off to a flying start scoring 59 runs in the first ten overs. Conor O’Neill (1/35) once again bowled well showing increasing maturity and discipline. First change bowler Shaun O’Neill was getting some sharp turn and was rewarded with the stumping of Lee thanks to some very nifty glovework by Mekwan.

The hosts continued to build on their solid start with a partnership from Robinson (57) and Smith (50). Firfire turned to Tailor (3/35) and Lawrence (3/11) for some much needed wickets. Tailor took the crucial wickets of Robinson and Smith while Lawrence bowled in a typically aggressive yet economical fashion. Town scented victory with Firfire applying pressure with close fielders but in the end number 11 Chapman blasted a four through the covers for victory for the hosts with 2 overs to spare.
