Match report NORTHWOOD TOWN dominated in their clash with Langleybury and whilst they couldn't force victory they picked up a useful 17 points as they played out a draw at Chestnut Avenue.

Winning the toss, skipper David Bushnell elected to bat and his decision paid off as the hosts produced an excellent batting display. Scott Walker and Ishmeet Singh opened up with a solid 53 before Singh was dismissed for 28. The ever dependable Jim Cotton then joined Walker and kept the momentum going in a partnership of 32. Walker, who had been struggling for form, got his just rewards for chipping away with 54 (1x6, 9x4). Once dismissed, the in-form Michael Lister joined Cotton at the crease and the pair put on 50 for the third wicket as Town looked to post a big score. Cotton's dismissal saw Veer Vadgama enter the fray and he followed suit with a measured 22 as he and Lister carved out a fourth wicket partnership of 75. Lister has been in terrific form in recent weeks and he was once again the Town mainstay with an unbeaten 78 (3x6, 9x4).The hosts lost a couple more wickets in trying to up the run-rate but they finished their innings on a competitive 254-6.

Bushnell elected to start Town's bowling with the old ball and the spinning option of Naresh Kumar. This paid off as Kumar (2-49) and Bushnell (3-54) himself captured early wickets. Suvin Mekwan (2-22) was also to collect a couple of wickets as Langleybury struggled on 78-6. However the next pair were to frustrate Town and despite Bushnell rotating the bowling, there was little sign of another breakthrough until right at the end when the skipper captured his third wicket of the day. Langleybury finished on 178-7.

Bushnell was pleased with the team effort:
"Everyone contributed today and it was a good all round display. If we can produce that sort of form on a consistent basis we will do well"
