Match report The penultimate first season’s 3s team league match was upon us. Hitchin was invited to bat first after losing the toss. Town’s reliable M Parmar wasted no time picking up his first wicket with zero runs on the board and ultimately ended with respectable bowling figures (15ovrs 48runs for 3 wkts). M Vadgama provided some good support on his debut. P Tailor also contributed well, taking an impressive catch off his own bowling. Sadly, Town’s inability to covert catching opportunities was their undoing, this enabled Hitchin to record a competitive score of 214 runs before they declared after 42 overs.

Towns batting got off to a poor start with R Patel being dismissed to a lazy defence stroke having faced only three balls. Luckily, H Patel was in no mood to hang around and scored an entertaining 30 (6x4s) taking the attack back to the bowlers. Town found themselves in a pickle after losing a few more wickets in quick succession. A Parmar 35(2x4s) provided a solid counter defence right up to the end supported by a quick fire 21 (3x4s) by P Rooke to ensure Town a respectful final total but ultimately short of the required target.
