Hampton Hill CC v Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 03 Sep 2011 at 2pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 6 Wickets

Match report Northwood Town 3's travelled to Hampton Hill CC for what is the last 3's game of the season. Town lost the toss and the opposition decided to bat, something town wanted to do first.

Meeth Katira and Mitesh Parmar opened up the bowling and bowled their usual tight lines and made the batsman work for their runs. The field was on its toes and quick onto anything that came their way.
One point to mention was that everyone, well almost everyone was vocal and this ensured that the bowlers and fielders stayed alert and responded to the encouragement.

Meeth was rewarded with his excellent line and length by bowling out the opening batsman. 8 overs in a change in bowling was bought in, Sachin Dave and Sajid Malik. Both bowling with great pace and accuracy. Sachin’s bowling figures do not accurately reflect his superb bowling performance, however Sajid stole the show with his 4 wickets. Arjun Sahai and Humay Jairazbhoy were introduced into the bowling attack to try and mix things up, after which Prakash Tailor was introduced to the Bowling attack to the sounds of Mexican delights. The opening bowling partnership was re-introduced to finish of the innings, Mitesh getting a run out on which he did have to go searching for the stumps. Apart from one run out, a couple of drop catches (not all of them were easy), we got our wickets by pretty much bowling them out, 9 batsmen were bowled out, and Sajid showed us how to kill the off-stump by uprooting it a couple of times. Towns fielding was excellent and the vocals had a huge part in keeping it going so well, players got their body’s behind the ball, one even cutting open his finger in his quest to stop the ball, fielders backing each other up and all whilst smiling and having a laugh.

Hampton Hill CC put up 141 runs, NTCC 3XI needing 142 runs to win.

Amit Parmar and Taz Katira both went in to the instructions of only hitting bad balls, we couldn’t have a repeat of last week’s batting performance. Unfortunately Amit edged to the pint sized keeper in the first over, who done well to hold on to the ball. Mitesh went into replace his older brother, after words from the senior Parmar on his way out, he settled in well, and did an excellent job of supporting Taz. The two batted for the next 13 overs hitting 44 runs. M. Parmar did a sterling job and ran unselfishly for Taz’s lightening running between the stumps. Rajul Patel entered the equation when Mitesh was bowled out, searching for his first 50, he set out quietly with quick singles. For the next 16 overs the two batsman put up another 75 runs which contain excellent shots, quick running and capitalising on any poor fielding, Rajul even managing to hit the ball with the meat of his bat and hitting a fielder who was standing at short mid wicket just below his knee, the sound of leather hit bone is not pleasant, after the fielder was sprayed with some magic spray he went on to bowl with excellent pace and he continued to field superbly – he deserves an award for the way he played. Anyway back to towns innings, Rajul was caught out when the pint sized keeper took on the role of bowler, managing to edge the ball into the air for the new keeper to take the catch. Kunal Sanghi came on for his Sehwag inspired cameo, hitting two huge shots before being caught by a diving fielder, great prospect for NTCC going forward. Sachin Dave now walked in casually for his turn, inspired by his namesake Sachin Tendulkar played two very nice shots hitting two big fours and bringing the win home for the 3’s.

A special mention goes to T. Katira for his excellent innings, he held his wicket from start to end and played with a very cool head, scoring 57 runs (8x4s) not out.

Man of the match - the whole team should be nominated for it as everyone single player put in 100% effort, a team like this is a captains dream. Each and every player should use this games performance as a benchmark for their own performances going forward. Well done 3’s for your excellent performance and ending the season on a high.
