Match report 12th May 2012, marked the start of the Mighty 3s league season. First up, Berkhampstead IV. Northwood Town won the toss and elected to bat.

Berkhampstead’s Jack Hunter, wasted no time dismissing K.Sanghi in his opening spell. S.Thakrar 34 (4x4s) and J.Bentvelzen 24 buckled down and steadied the ship with a robust partnership of 64 runs of 19 overs. H.Jarvie broke the partnership in the 20th over, after which Town lost a further five wickets with only 36 runs added to the total. So, with the score on 100 for 5, M.Parmar 19 not out (1x4s) and S.Dave 54 not out (5x6s, 2x4s) provided a partnership made in heaven. Their destructive partnership saw 78 runs added to Town’s total of just 11 overs. Town set Berkhampstead a very competitive 179 target.

Town started their bowling spell with the M.Parmar (11ovrs 6mdns 13runs 2wts ) and M.Katira (8ovrs, 2mdns 27runs, 1wts) their consistent bowling saw 3 wickets fall leaving Berkhampstead on the back foot. Town’s M.Vadgama (6ovrs, 2mdns 27runs, 2wts), S.Dave (9ovrs, 2mdns 19runs, 1wts) and J.Sagoo (3ovrs, 2mdns 1runs, 1wt) and a run out ensured the pressure remained on Berkhampstead throughout their innings. Berkhampstead where on the brink of losing the opening match of the season with 9 wickets down and 67runs on the board and circa 15overs remaining.

However, Berkhampstead’s J.Lemank and H.Jarvie by far were the hero’s of the day with a master class display of resilience batting. They dug in and under tremendous pressure they fort off Town’s attack and steered Berkhampstead to a well deserved draw.
