Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 4 wickets

Match report Northwood Town were winners by 4 wickets in an entertaining friendly against South Harrow at Chestnut Avenue on Sunday afternoon. Mike Lister and Sachin Dave were the stars for Town with bat and bowl respectively as Town chased down South Harrow’s total in good time.

The Katira brothers got Town off to a good start as South Harrow’s batsman signalled their intentions to attack but ultimately got themselves out with some silly shots. Sachin Dave was tight and tidy in his opening spell and snared a couple of wickets to put Town in the driving seat. An aggressive 7th wicket partnership between Vijesh and Vivshank brought the visitors back into the game but Dave returned to grab another couple of wicket to finish with an impressive 4/20 off 7 overs. Adam Hills and Kunal Sanghi also picked up a wicket apiece.

In reply John Bentvelzen (17) and Sanghi (33) got Town off to a good start with a 45 run opening partnership before both fell in quick succession. The game turned Town’s way when Mike Lister and Phil Carter came together to add 87 for the 4th wicket. Lister especially was in imperious form after an early reprieve and he plundered the Harrow attack to all parts of the ground. Carter was always in control and supported superbly before Lister was caught for an excellent 74 (7x4, 3x6) and then guided Town home for the loss of 6 wickets with 5 overs to spare. A decent workout for Town with some players getting some key batting time.

Town are in competitive action next weekend as they welcome Ware to Chestnut Avenue in the first round of the County Trophy.
