Match report Northwood Town skipper Raj Ahluwalia watched in amazement as Town's middle order pulled off an almost fairytale comeback to secure only their third win of the season and keep alive hopes off pulling off a great escape and keeping their division 2 status intact. Having won the toss, Ahluwalia went for broke and asked the opposition to bat on a damp and green track. At 60/1, it seemed like the plan had backfired but one thing Towns bowlers cannot be accused of is laying down and dying and they produced a fantastic spell with Dave Bushnell at the forefront. Wickets began to tumble regularly and only the visitors opening bat Hodge stuck around for a gritty 71.

Bushnell picked up key wickets supported by skipper Ahluwalia (2/28) and the introduction of medium pacer Dom Whyley (3/17) swung the game in Towns favour. Bushnell finished with figures of 4/42 with Kazim Naqvi also picking up a wicket as Potters Bar were dismissed for 145. In reply, Town lost Phil Costard early on but aussie duo Brendan Heaney and Rohan Lee saw off the new ball before a catastrophic collapse saw Town fall to 30/5. Lee (20) and Kaqvi began the rebuilding work but two quick wickets left Town reeling on 65/7 and staring relegation in the face. Enter Neil Dudley who decided that attack was the best way to get themselves out of trouble and he and Naqvi began to take apart the visitors attack with some expansive - but always controlled - shots. The pair put on a match winning partnership of 81 in just 8 overs as the ball regularly ended up in the gardens of the nearby Northwood residents. Dudley finished on 51 not out and Naqvi 48 not out as Town picked up a vital 30 points.
