Match report A youthful Northwood Town were put to the sword by a Shenley Village side who belied their lowly league table placing with an accomplished performance. Skipper Adam Hills won the toss and elected to bat on a decent and pacey track. The hosts' opening pair of Geoff Evans and Dave Shelley put Town under pressure from the word go and made inroads into the top order. A flurry of quick wickets left Town struggling at 25/3 with the overs rapidly ticking by but brought the youth of Veer Vadgama and the experience of Alan Armitage to the crease. The pair showed tremendous discipline against some hostile bowling from Shenley's Lloyd Willingham.

Vadgama fell first ball after drinks for a patient knock of 12 and Armitage continued to defy the hosts on his way to 37. Had it not been for an injury that required a runner it may have been different for Town if Armitage had stuck around. The middle order offered little but Dan Pimm (22 not out) batted sensibly with the tail to give Town's bowlers something to defend. They were finally bowled out for 130 in the 52nd over.

Town's reply with the ball was not helped but a short but heavy downpour which left them having to bowl with a wet ball but it was no excuse for some, at times - dreadful bowling. That said, Town did have their chances - Veer Vadgama's off spin causing problems but he was let down in the field as Bubs Willingham survived a couple of early scares to crash a quick fire 75. Jack Daly picked up Town's solitary wicket (and point) in what was generally a day to forget for Town who now sit perilously above the relegation zone.

Skipper Hills was left to ponder a familiar story:
"Game after game we are let down by our bowling. I thought we actually did ok with the bat against a very decent attack and 130 was at least competitive. We have players who can win games in this team, but they seem to show up all too infrequently. Next week is massive!"
