Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI v Rickmansworth V on Sat 11 May 2013 at 1 pm
Match was Drawn

Match report In a tight, rain affected game, Town won the toss and opted to field.

In a typically tight opening spell, Meeth Katira and Parmar kept the scoring down and the pressure on. Katira was nearly rewarded only to see his a sharp chance fluffed by the sheepish captain at extra cover, the first of his 2 costly drops.

Town did eventually make a breakthrough with Vadgama taking his first of the day. Rickmansworth's batsmen however were making the most of their luck and it was only with the score fast approaching that town took another wicket with a rash shot of the bowling of Khetia. But it was only after the excellent bowling of Graham that the Rickmansworth opener Paul Blackwell finally departed after a well played 50.

Soon after the remaining wickets tumbled with the returning Parmar and Vadgama putting smiles back on town faces. Even the skipper remembered how to catch as Rickmansworth
imploded to 155 all out. Vadgama finished with excellent figures of 5 for 13.

With the rain staying away, towns batsmen began the chase slowly losing Rajul Patel to an excellent catch. When the hapless Khetia rashly lost his wicket first ball and Paddy Rooke went cheaply, town were reeling on 16 for 3. Enter Taz Katira and Bobby Graham with an excellent partnership. Both steadied the innings and survived a tough spell from the excellent Skinner before freeing their arms and brining town back into the match.

When Katira fell on 28, new boy Ravi Doshi came to the crease and supported Graham as he cruised on. Man of the match Graham eventually fell on 61, leaving town on 104 for 5.

After a rain interruption both skippers agreed to forge ahead and press for the win they craved. Some excellent hitting from Vadgama, Doshi and latterly Parmar brought town to brink of victory, only for the rain to return with town stranded on 146 for 7. When the showers finally cleared, only one team was prepared to return to the field in grim conditions and regrettably the weather won.

After the match, Khetia said "To get as close as we did to a whole game was a testament to the players' attitudes. Not one complained when the rain came and they carried on until it really was impossible. Ultimately, we dropped a few catches and it cost us the win."
