Northwood Town Cricket Club Lost by 4 wickets

Match report Town lost the toss and were put into bat. Wickets soon tumbled as the top order crumbled despite decent starts. A good partnership from Firfire and Kessel put town back into the game with some excellent aggressive batting from Kessel in particular.

Once the partnership was broken though, wickets fell quickly though until Tailor and Parmar counter attacked at the end to push Town up to a below par 172 all out.

The response was magnificent, with Town at one stage having the opposition 3 down for just 2 on the board.

Unfortunately though, Town were victim of a one man display, with C. Winter smashing 129 not out, with some able support from his son.

Waltham X crossed the line with an over to spare, leaving the Town players cursing an appalling start to their batting.

Skipper Khetia said after - 'We were probably 30 short with the bat, but you have to hand it to Winter. Looking at the rest of their batting, one lad got 15, the other 6 contributed 9 between them!! Sometimes it isn't your day, but we'll come back stronger next week.'
