Reed IV v Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 17 Aug 2013 at 1 pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 2 wickets

Match report Town embarked on the long road to Reed seeking a fourth consecutive win. Having lost the toss, Town were put in the field.

After a frenetic first 4 overs, Khetia had somehow contrived to take 3 wickets in a dubious opening burst! True to form, however, he was promptly smashed out of the attack by the pair of Deville and Ward.

The pair put on an outstanding 200 partnership, seeing off all of the Town bowlers despite some excellent work from Parmar and Pandey. It was the guile of Katira that finally removed Deville in his second spell. The scoring slowed considerably from this point on and Reed eventually declared on 249 for 4.

In response, Town lost Kunal Patel in the first over. With Pandey and Ramawat at the crease though, the runs flowed well until loss of Ramawat to a loose shot in the 11th over.

Khetia came to the crease still smarting from his earlier drubbing and swiftly took out his frustration on the young Reed attack. It wasn't to be the captains day though as he was bowled by an excellent delivery.

With Rajul Patel falling to a peach shortly after, it fell to Katira and Pandey to consolidate. Just as the scoring picked up though, disaster struck as Katira fell and Lal followed soon after, with the required rate nearly at 9 an over.

Khetia and Tailor clearly had the situation in hand however and promoted Nic Patel up the order to tuck into the Reed attack. An explosive start saw Patel reach 16 off his first 6 balls.

When Pandey fell though for an outstanding 85, the odds looked to have turned in the home sides favour. Some thoughtful batting from Bentvelzen though, ensured there was no respite and Town soon had the chase in hand with 15 required off 3 overs.

A tight over from the returning Ward swung the balance though and when Bentvelzen was stumped Town needed 10 off 10 balls. There was no stopping Patel though, as the youngster smashed the winning runs to bring Town home in outrageous fashion with plenty to spare!

After the match Khetia was overjoyed. "You don't see games like that too often. Top bowling from Mitesh and Nic smashing those runs! Pradip was my man of the match though, his best game in a Town shirt bar none! Incredible team effort."
