Match report Town arrived at Old Elizabethans looking to continue their excellent run of form. Elizabethans were looking to avenge their only defeat of the previous season.

Having lost the toss, Town were sent into the field on a scorching day. Early on, Town contained the Elizabethan batsmen well, Parmar his typically frugal self. After Parmar took 2 quick wickets it appeared the solid base built up had begun to crumble. A massive partnership though, soon had Town on the defensive.

Between some poor fielding and a lightning fast outfield, the runs soon piled on and with wickets in hand, Elizabethans amassed an excellent 212 for 4 from their overs.

In response, Bentvelzen and Nic Patel began well, but the early loss of Patel and some excellent bowling from Raz in particular saw the runs dry up. Pandey fell to an excellent yorker and Bentvelzen immediately followed leaving Town precariously placed on 41 for 3.

Kotecha and Katira settled things down but once more, the need to press for runs saw the former lose his wicket. The unfortunate Katira followed shortly after, an excellent catch seeing him off for 15.

At 81 for 5, Town had to shut up shop. Lal and the excellent Khetia steadied the ship - Lal only departing near the end as Town hunted down batting points. A brief cameo from Ghaffar and some big hitting from Khetia saw Town eventually close on 166 for 7, an excellent response from the halfway position.

Khetia remained upbeat after the game - 'Sadly, we didn't do ourselves justice in the field today, but in seasons gone by we would have crumbled at 81 for 5. Although we didn't win it was still a creditable performance. We know what we need to work on and we'll come back stronger for it.'
