Langleybury IV v Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 19 Jul 2014 at 1pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 1 wicket

Match report Having lost the toss, Town were sent into the field expecting virtually no play on a day that promised rain all day. The weather however had not read the script and it proved not to be the only one.

The usually solid Parmar was targeted by the home side and runs flowed at both ends as Langleybury attacked carefree. Palan though took regular wickets in the stifling heat. Having dismissed the top 4 he finished with excellent figures of 4-54.

As the experience departed, Khetia sensed blood as the youthful middle order came in. In truly selfish fashion he bagged 2 scalps, but runs continued to flow. An excellent catch from Rajul Patel though, saw the last recognised batsmen depart and having finally turned up, the predatory Vadgama rattled through the tail.

Fielding though had let down the 3s as Langlebury were allowed to post 155 all out.

In response Town carried on their dismal batting form, crumbling to 38 for 5 within 15 overs. Khetia and Palan put on a steady partnership, but when Khetia departed the score was just 68 for 6. When the ever dependable Parmar departed for 1 though, Langleybury looked to be favourites.

Palan though was having none of it, batting with exceptional timing. In true Town fashion he took the fight to the home side until a stunning catch behind saw his untimely demise.

When Meeth Katira came out, Town were rocking on 105 for 8. It appeared though that nobody had told Vadgama the plan as he crashed boundary after boundary. With Katira solid at one end and runs pouring through the Langleybury rearguard, Town cruised towards their target.

Katira eventually perished for a well played 11, but vice Tailor joined Vadgama to knock off the final runs as Town scraped home by 1 wicket!

Khetia had mixed feelings after the game. 'I'm delighted with the win, but we are making these games far too difficult. The application in the field was poor and the top order need to start getting more runs. With players we have though, never write us off! Man of the match was Harshil, absolutely tremendous today!'
