Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI v Boxmoor III on Sat 26 Jul 2014 at 1pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 148 runs

Match report Town welcomed Boxmoor on a scorching sunny day. Khetia won the toss for a change and opted to bat.

Town were keen to make amends for last season's crushing defeat and set about in with a tremendous partnership for Pandey and the imperious Robbins. Robbins eventually fell for a swashbuckling 55 but Town were storming away on 74 after just 15 overs. When Katira came in, the scoring slowed initially but another 50+ partnership put Town almost out of sight.

When Katira fell to a plumb LBW on 25, Town were on 149 for 2. After Firfire and Lal had willingly sacrificed their place in the buffet queue, Khetia strode out and instructed Nic Patel and Vadgama to pad up.

The carnage than ensued saw Town smash 102 off 9.5 overs, Khetia with a fiery cameo before Patel bludgeoned his way to 38 not out and Panday majestically cruised to a phenomenal 87 not out. Khetia declared on 251 for 3, leaving Boxmoor a near impossible task.

As Boxmoor came out, their intention was clear as the openers tried to make the most of excellent batting conditions.

Town however would not be denied. With Khetia taking the old ball and instructing the bowlers to slow the pace down, Firfire struck first with the well placed Robbins clinging onto a fantastic catch.

After the new ball was taken, the swing proved too much for Boxmoor as Khetia took two and the inspired Pandey prized out another with a catch of the season contender from Khetia.

The magic wasn't over though as Pandey steamed in. With a spell of swing bowling that Jimmy Anderson would have been proud of, Pandey destroyed the Boxmoor middle order, taking an outstanding hat-trick, with Lal snaffling another corking catch to seal it.

Boxmoor must have been relieved when the bowling was changed, but Meeth Katira refused to let the pressure off, removing one, before Vadgama strangled another somehow producing a second moment of agility from the skipper. When Katira took the final wicket, Town completed a stunning 148 run victory.

Khetia was ecstatic after game - 'Amazing - amazing in every aspect. The batsmen were unbelievable, the bowling out of this world and the fielding was immaculate. Pradip deserved today, he has been a little out of sorts of late, but today he bossed it beyond belied. Highest score and a hat-trick, tremendous!'
