Match report Northwood Town lost the toss and were asked to field on a good batting track in sunny conditions. Harpenden's openers frustrated Town's bowlers with most of the runs coming behind square with the odd nick going in the gap. Breakthroughs were finally achieved through Palan and then several wickets for Patel before another frustrating innings from Voigt that could have ended before it started with about 5 inside edges going agonisingly millimetres past his stumps. A couple of wickets from Vadgama wasn't enough to halt Harpenden's progress however as they finished on 229 for 7, which in all fairness was about 20 runs more than we should have allowed them to take had we been slightly better in the field at times. Aftea tea Town openers J.B. and Adatia found scoring difficult at first before the latter was unfortunate to be bowled off his pads. Kunal Patel and Firfire started well but picked out a fielder while some good hitting from Pandey held things together. A flurry of wickets however left the tail with an impossible task but between Malik, Tailor and a superb 44 from Ghaffar almost made it happen. In the end Town came up short by 51 runs with 5 overs left. Our fielding today was not at it's best and it cost us but at the same time the luck throughout the game seemed to be on Harpenden's side and with some pleasing performances today feel we aren't far away.
