Northwood Town Cricket Club Sunday XI v Ickenham II on Sun 15 Jun 2014 at 1pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 112 runs

Match report Northwood Town faced a young Ickenham 2nd XI on a cloudy day at home in their second league game of the season. Town won the toss and elected to bat first on decent wicket with a slow outfield and openers J.B and Kunal got off to a decent start, both hitting some good shots and rotating the strike well. With neither looking in any trouble both unfortunately fell in quick succession, which brought Veer Vadgama and man of the match Jim Cotton (71 n.o.) who both knuckled down and built a solid partnership together of 50 before Vadgama departed. More support came from Ravi Kotecha with some useful runs, before Kyle Lawrence joined Cotton and fired Town to 192 for 5 with some quality hitting. After a rather large spread of the finest teas provided by Marjorie Pimm, Town waddled out and immediately attacked with Kyle Lawrence and Mihir Patel opening the bowling with the latter producing a jaffer to remove one opener whilst the former was just too quick for the other who was bowled as well. Both went on to claim more quick wickets with some good catches taken along the way as Town tore through Ickenham. Krunal Patel then produced the worst wicket maiden in history to show just how looks can deceive. Harshil Palan too got in on the act, taking a scalp before Aiden Lawrence wrapped things up with a couple of quick wickets. All in all a really good result for Town today and despite the opposition being mostly youngsters we did what we need to do well and with all the bowlers bowling well and the fielding effort improved, with a great keeping job from Ravi Kotecha and a special mention to Jack Daly who couldn't bowl or run through injury still turned up and played, fielding well for his club. The batting today was excellent and on a better cut outfield would have looked closer to 240 and was summed up by J.C's innings which was positive throughout but was built on patience and waiting to punish the bad ball early before exploding at the end with a flurry of boundaries with wickets in hand using all of our 45 overs. First points on the board in the league and a good day's work as we move forward.
