Match report After losing the toss, the 2s took to the field looking to build on their last outing. After a steady opening partnership of 42, Malik eventually broke through and steady contributions from the sprightly Furmenger and Daly saw Town make their way through the top order. When Khetia chipped in with a few, St. Albans were teetering on 86 for 6.

A good recovery partnership steadied the ship to 120 for 7 though and some tremendous hitting from R. O'Toole (88), ably supported by some fine strokes from Hiscock (21), saw the game move swiftly away from Town as the home side posted 229 for 9. To add to Town's woes, Kunal Patel was hospitalised with a dislocated thumb attempting a catch.

After a sterling tea, Town were reinvigorated and set about chasing down the target in solid fashion. Unfortunately a similar tale unfolded with wickets steadily falling from disappointing shot selection and despite an excellent 48 from Sandip Thakrar.

A spirited resistance from Kotecha (20) and Khetia (47) saw Town at least put some sizeable dents into the target, but it proved too much as Town fell to 160 all out.

After the game Khetia remained positive - "You have to give credit to St. Albans. They batted really well despite some top bowling from the lads. In the end we couldn't break that last partnership and it cost us dearly. Perhaps we'd have chased it down with Kunal fit, but it wasn't to be. I have to thank the hosts though, they really looked after us and were great ferrying Kunal about, especially the skipper Mick. A top bunch of lads and despite the loss a good game played the way cricket should be played."
