Harpenden IV v Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 27 Jun 2015 at 1pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 37 runs

Match report Having won the toss, Khetia elected to bat on what looked an absolute belter.

After a solid start, Pandey and Ramaway made the most of a lightning outfield to move Town along steadily, but after 2 wickets, Mihir Patel came to the crease.

With Khetia hoping for some calm, Patel set about his task diligently, promptly annihilating the home attack with the demeanour of a man possessed!! Ably supported by the ever reliable Ramawat, Town motored along until a lucky wicket brought Shah to the crease. Again no prisoners were taken and Town had already scored some batting points by drinks!!

With the inevitable talk of "250 minimum", some truly shambolic batting, led by the skipper, saw Town collapse in the middle. Only some fine hitting by Silva took the total to 201 all out, leaving the home side an extra 5 overs.

A dainty tea worked in Town's favour though, a notoriously sluggish unit suddenly looking sleek and, quite understandably, hungry.

Although Harpenden got off to a great start, some outstanding fielding saw the brakes applied with Patel and Khetia in particularly fine form. Silva eventually took a fine catch to dismiss Wade who had become increasingly frustrated.

Harpenden, to their credit, maintained their composure and still scored well until a moment of magic from Mihir Patel turned the game in Town's favour with a runout.

It was another moment of excellence from Bejal Shah to catch Randall off the bowling of Khetia. Harpenden though, remained firmly in the box seat.

Until, that is Shahmir Syed decided to write his name into Town history. Having bowled 9 decent overs for 37 runs and no wickets, the Karachi Kid showed skills that Ralph Macchio would have been proud of. The massacre of the middle order that ensued will surely leave a chill in the home side's memories for some time to come.

Syed swung his way through the middle order and tail claiming all 7 remaining batsmen to send the home side from 125 for 3 to 164 all out and give Town the 30 points.

Khetia was understandably delighted. "I thought the whole side were tremendous today, but sometimes it takes that special performance to win you a game. Today we had 2, Mihir was incredible, but Shahmir was out of this world!!"
