Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v St Albans III on Sat 18 Jul 2015 at 1pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets

Match report Town looked to capitalise on their tremendous recent form as they took on title contenders St. Albans at home.

Having been sent into the field, Town began with tight spells from Silva and Maulin Patel. Tight fielding kept the openers strangled but after an early breakthrough, the visitors dug in hard. Maulin was particularly unlucky beating the bat at will.

With Town sticking to some very good lines, Syed eventually broke through, but another good partnership took the visitors to an imposing 152 for 2.

With a score of 250 plus on the cards, Khetia turned to Mihir Patel. The young speedster began well, but it was a triple wicket over that sent shockwaves through the St. Albans line up. With Silva returning and keeping the pressure on at the other end, wickets tumbled and the pair shattered St. Albans, taking 5 wickets for only 9 runs.

Some shots from the tail took the visitors to 195 all out, but Town were firmly in the box seat. Mihir finished with an outstanding 5-23.

In response Town started solidly. After the departure of Thakrar though, Palan and Mihir Patel added quick runs before departing to put Town in charge. Though a mini collapse saw Town briefly bring the visitors back into the game, there was still the immovable Ramawat to contend with when Maulin Patel came to the crease.

Having settled in nicely, some banter seemed to anger Patel into action. It wasn't long before the score started to accelerate rapidly and Town's batsmen were dominating the mind games.

When Maulin queried how many runs were left to win, the writing was on the wall. An enormous six over midwicket, brought up his maiden fifty and Town's third win in four.

Khetia was understandably delighted with his team after the game - "Heroes everywhere! You couldn't ask for much more of a complete performance from the lads. Everything came together so well today and to do it against a quality side speaks volumes. A huge and deserved win!"
