Boxmoor III v Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 22 Aug 2015 at 1pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets

Match report On a hot August day, the Mighty 3s travelled to play a friendly and good spirited Boxmoor. Having only 10 men to take the field, a few eyebrows were raised when stand in skipper J.B having won the toss chose to bowl first. It was looking even more suicidal when both openers started hitting boundaries over mid off. However a slight adjustment in the field and Rajul was there to take a good catch off of the bowling of Sunderalingam, who also removed their number 3 with a very full ball. Parmar who was toiling away at the other end did his bit to bowl over the number 4. The double change and introduction of Ghaffar and Firfire paid dividends straight away and the latter bowled with good flight to deceive the remaining opener and then bag a couple more wickets with a tough return catch and then assisted by a smart low catch by Bentvelzen to send shockwaves through their batting line up. Ghaffar was steadily bowling well from the other end as well and mopped up the tail with fine spell of pace bowling in which the batsmen had little answer, as Boxmoor were wrapped up for 117. After a very nice tea, Town openers J.B. and Rajul Patel set about knocking off the total. Both were lucky however to have tough chances put down and went on to use that luck to punish the bowling. After a few tasty on drives that went to the boundary, J.B was caught off a ball that leapt up. Parmar and Lal each assisted Patel in adding useful partnerships after, as Town were going about scoring the runs well. When Nair arrived at the crease it was not long before he was calling for a runner having pulled a muscle. He then hit the next ball for 6 and didn't look back, showing good technique whilst scoring. An unusually defensive minded Nic Patel then joined Rajul as the target grew ever closer as did R.Patel's 50*. Having reached his milestone to warm applauds all round, Ali Ghaffar came in and hit a few runs to win the game for Town by 5 wickets. It was a lot of work with 10 men in the heat today but all in all a very good performance with lots of positivity and spirit. The fielding was excellent and we caught well. Great job behind the stumps as always from Richard Kessel. We should be proud of our win in what was a whole team effort. Well done everyone.
