Match report On a sunny yet slightly breezy day the Northwood Town Sunday XI took on a spirited and friendly opponent in Ruislip CC. Ruislip won the toss and elected to bat first. Maulin Patel and Bejal Shah opened the bowling and were unlucky not to have had at least a wicket each as the opening batsmen both lived dangerously but successfully for a while as a couple of difficult chances were not able to be taken. A change in bowling did bring a breakthrough as Akshay Loomba removed both openers from a decent spell of bowling. Shahmeer Syed then got in on the act taking 4 wickets as Town took control. Krunal Patel got an important wicket from a sharp catch by Richard Kessel and Prakash Tailor bowled superbly to remove the last 3 batsmen. After a thoroughly deserving delightful tea, with brownies I might add, Town took to chasing down a gettable target of 128. Openers J.B. and Loomba (41) started well enough before the former fell dubiously lbw. Ravi Ramawat (37) came to the crease and built up a solid partnership. So precise both were in their work that the pair even jogged down to adjust the sight screens to their desired position. An act of villagery that brought a laugh from a good turn out of support for the team. After Loomba's demise Pradip Pandey took up the mantle with a few fine shots before he was unluckily caught in front and the finger went up. Andrew Huxley arrived at the crease and steered the ship toward home with a solid knock. Maulin Patel was there at the end to make sure Town won the game by 6 wickets. A great performance all round today from the lads. I couldn't have asked anything more from any of them, who all preformed well and put in a great effort to make a really positive and fun atmosphere. Their on and off the field examples are duly noted. And as for man of the match, well I guess that goes to our very own Kapil Dev, Akshay Loomba.
