Match report The second team started the season with defeat unfortunately.

Having lost the toss, Town looked sluggish in the field. Despite solid spells from Malik and Khetia, it was clearly the first game back for a number of players as the visitors worked the ball around with relative ease.

A spirited fightback from Town though, did see wickets tumble as the cricketing cogs moved into action. Hertford finished on 203-9

Having kept the visitors somewhat at bay, Town set about chasing the target in positive fashion. After the early loss of Ramawat, Kunal Patel and Haji rotated the strike extremely well. Combined with some controlled aggression, the top order looked to be making light work of the target.

Though both fell after good starts, debutant Rik Samani and the bearded wonder Harshil Palan continued their good work.

Until of course, the typical Town collapse. The remaining 6 batsmen scored a combined 6 runs and though somewhat unlucky, Town fell a long way short, all out for 145.

Khetia said afterwards "We didn't play well enough to win today and credit has to go to Hertford. Unfortunately, we started slowly in the field and made far too many mistakes with the bat. Onwards and upwards though, 12 points from a poor performance is never bad."
