Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI v St Albans IV on Sat 23 Jul 2016 at 1pm
Match was Drawn
Match report
On a fine Saturday afternoon the Northwood Town Mighty 3's took on a desperate St Albans who were looking to do all they could to stop being cut adrift at the bottom of league. Having been made to field first, Town started brightly and the new ball pair of Parmar and M.Katira bowled with excellent accuracy, each taking a wicket in what was an excellent spell for both. A couple quick wickets from Mobeen gave Town a solid start to build on after drinks but sadly their combination of higher division players added over 100 runs in literally no time, not that there was much wrong with our bowling, T.Katira being eventually rewarded for his persistence. After a lovely tea, Pandey and Balakrishnan started building our response in good fashion. After both had departed, the mantle was taken on Pearson who never gave the opposition a sniff of his wicket, batting excellently throughout, whilst being ably supported by first Doshi then T.Katira. At this stage St Albans were starting to show how desperate they were for points and started to show their true nature with some petty behaviour. However our boys weren't fazed by their nonsense as Parmar joined T.Katira at the end to see that we achieved maximum batting points and batted out comfortably for the draw. In the circumstances we were given today I feel that the lads not only stood up but showed in every way who the better team was. We should be pleased with our efforts today and our fight shown as a team. Lets keep it going.
