Match report A dream bowling performance followed by a batting implosion......

After losing the toss, NTCC were asked to bowl on a surprisingly dry pitch surrounded by an outfield that resembled the grassy savannas of Africa. Superperb opening bowling performances from Myring and Palan kept the opposition very quiet and the run rate at a miserly 3 runs per over. Wickets were hard to come by as the Harpenden top order batted with patience and a solid defence. Despite the low scoring rate, the worry was that Harpenden would accelerate towards the end of their innings. A strategic bowling change from the skipper bought on the spin trio of Mobeen, Tailor and Shaw. 8 wickets fell for 32 runs with Shaw picking up a well deserved 5 wicket haul and Tailor cleaning up with 3 wickets. The high quality fielding from previous weeks continued with a total of 5 brilliant cathes being taken by Firfire, Fanner and Palan. Harpenden closed their shop at 36.3 overs with a final score of 114 all out.

After a light tea in windy conditions, Town's newly formed opening batting pair of Fanner and Firfire marched out to the middle. Perhaps there was something in the tea or the windy conditions or perhaps the purple grass but by the 33rd over Town had been bowled out for 47 runs. Resistence from JB (15) and Mobeen (12 no) were the only sparkles of a challenge to the low score.
