Boxmoor III v Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 06 Jul 2019 at 1.00pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Lost by 91 runs
Match report
A last minute venue change moved the game to the main Boxmoor ground. Town won the toss and based on what appeared to be cracked and watered pitch decided to bowl first.
Boxmoor opened their account well with their main opener scoring 97. Town dropped a catch in the slips and at square leg and this allowed Boxmoor to move forward at a steady state. The opening bowlers only gave away 33 runs in the 1st 10 overs however Town continued to push for wickets. Bowling changes bought on the guiles and deception of Tailor, Shaw, Mobeen, Vadgama and Nahar to eventually take 8 wickets and compensate for some accurate bowling and energetic fielding. Boxmoor ended their account on 188 with 51% of the runs being scored by one batsmen.
After a lovely tea, the newly formed opening partnership of Lal and Corrigan set-off to chase down the score. The wicket continued to play well and boundary scoring opportunities were frequent. The outfield was wickedly fast and the opening partnership reached a score of 45 before a loose shot outside off stump brought Lal's innings to an end. Corrigan continued to play watchfully but edged one back onto his stumps, scoring a brave 23. The scorers were marginally troubled by flourishes from Bahadur (15) and Nahar (10), whilst Mobeen tried to steady the innings, Town lost wickets cheaply at the other end. Town ended their fightback on 97 all out.
Our bowling and fielding continues to be impressive, lets focus on applying patience and fortitude in our batting. Keep going.....
