Match report Firstly a massive appreciation to all the committee members and players who have worked tirelessly over the recent months to prepare and ready the club for our first league game. The pressure of the covid has required considerable additional effort to ready the clubhouse and ground in order for NTCC to comply with the complex ECB health & safety directives. The dedication of the committee and key playing members is a testament to the cricketing family that is NTCC - a heartful thank you !

Wow ! Saturday was a corker ! Another gutsy performance from the 3s gave us our first league win of the season. Town lost the toss and were asked to bat on our newly laid Astro. Openers Ajay and Vinod set off steadily and reached 31 off 8 overs, Vinod playing his natural game and dispatching the bad deliveries over the rope with ease and regularity. Leverstock openers bowled with patience and accuracy and were rewarded with a "maxi" top and middle order batting collapse. Town slumped to 60 for 7 after 21 overs. Our fortunes lay in the seasoned hands of Rabi Motiwala who batted bravely and diligently through the innings to give us a glimmer of a defendable target. Rabi (28 not out) was supported by the grace and power hitting of Harry (14) and Arav (11) to nudge the scoreboard into 3 figures. Innings ending on 112 all out in 33 overs.

Set a modest target of 113 to win, the Leverstock batsmans started off aggressively however pace and accuracy from the opening pair of Saahil and Myring stiffled any ambitions Leverstock may have had for a quick finish. The pair bowled briliantly with guise and skill that kept the batsman searching and guessing. Both took wickets in their opening spells and this set the scene after 10 overs (31 for 2) for what turned out to be a truly courageous and fearless fielding and bowling display. The bowlers were rotated with Arav and Kishan continuing to turn the screws and supported by some breath taking fielding and amazing catching Leverstock slumped to 77 for 6 after 25 overs. Town had punctured the heart of the Leverstock batting line-up with Saahil returning in his final spell to pick-up another wicket with Kishan and Rabi each picking up 3 quick wickets to wrap-up the innings by the 34th over.

Let's focus on disciplined batting for the rest of the season, bowling and fielding well we could write the enchiridion after Saturday's performance ! Keep going chaps, what a great way to spend our Saturday afternoon. Respect.
