Wembley IV v Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 24 Apr 2021 at 1:00pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets

Match report On a bright, sunny late April Saturday, The NTCC 3s travelled to Wembley for their second preseason friendly. Wembley won the toss and decided to bat first on what was a very fast outfield with short boundaries square of the wicket on both sides. Opening the bowling for Town were two young players making their senior debuts in Myring and Cadman. Both bowled well against the opening batsmen and limited the scoring opportunities to minimum. Myring was able to make the first breakthrough, forcing the batsman to hit uppishly to cover where a diving Shaw managed to move round and cling on for a very good catch. Shaw and Subbiah were then introduced into the attack and continued to keep things tight, all the time being backed up by top quality stops in the field. Shaw in particular bowled very intelligently, flighting the ball and asking the set batsmen to take all the risk if the wanted to score fast runs, which they weren't able to. At drinks Wembley were 83 for 1 but Town felt they were in a decent position and so it told when Nahar was brought on and ran through their batsmen taking a superb five wicket haul, backed up with a couple of great catches from our usual fast bowler but today stand in keeper Kayani. Skipper Mobeen decided to join in the fun and picked up a wicket late on along with the returning Subbiah to bowl out the innings with Wembley posting 182 for 8 at the break. Town openers Patel and Joseph got off to a steady start seeing their way into the innings. Sadly as Joseph started to accelerate he was out but that only brought Kayani (101) to the crease who set about hitting boundary after boundary with top quality cricket shots and clean striking of the ball. All the time at the other end Patel was steadily going about his business playing the mature opening knock we knew this young man was always going to do as he shared in a partnership of well over a hundred. Sadly both eventually fell to the wise old head of Haskell but Bentvelzen and Devine played steadily to see the match home in just over 26 overs. It was an excellent win today for Town in a game where everybody was able to contribute something, with all-round great fielding and spirit led by skipper Mobeen. Man of the match: Ibbad Kayani.
