Match report NTCC playing their second last home match at home of the season this week against Northwood 4s. Sam won the toss and elected to bowl first on a lush green wicket and we got things going with James Myring and ravi Doshi starting as our first and second bowlers respectively; both having a decent spell to open the innings up. Although the wicket was not doing as much as we had anticipated, and Northwood getting off to a quick start with some flashing drives, we finally got our first wicket in the seventeenth over have brought on our first change bowlers with Ganesh picking up batsman no.1 which was then followed by Saras with the second - both dismissals bowled. after a good spell from both bowlers, and seeing the success which spin was having on the wicket, Saad and Sam then came on to turn their arms.

In the end Saad bowled to a good economy of 20 off of 6 overs but wasn't able to find a dismissal, whereas Sam was a little more successful picking up 5 wickets in 7 overs for 24 runs. Finishing things off on the other end to Sam was Abdullah who bowled well not having bowled for a number of games and took a wicket on the last ball of the innings with his numbers totalling 1 wicket for 8 runs off of 2 overs. In the end we restricted Northwood to a total of 138 which we were very satisfied with after the quick runs and draught of wickets in the first 20 overs. A terrific day behind the stumps for our stand in wicket keeper Deepak who kept excellently with an impressive total of 5 byes and two stumpings; many more of which were given not out but very quick hands none the less.

In response, NTCC opened the batting with Abs and keeper Deepak. Abs was the first to fall with a good catch from a decent drive towards point which would have cleared the boundary had the ball gone a yard either side of the man. Deepak dug in with new man Saras at the crease and was eventually dismissed LBW sending abdullah out to work down the total alongside saras. The two put on a good partnership before Saras got out caught. Roney then came out but unfortunately suffered the same fate as Saras getting caught on his second ball. With 4 wickets down for 46 off of a mere 16 overs bowled, we needed a steady and defiant effort from Ganesh who went out to bat alongside Abdullah. Indeed, as was the case several weeks back, Ganesh didn't disappoint and between the two of them, they steadily and sensibly batted the target down finishing in style with a boundary to see us home with two and a half overs to spare. Ganesh was the star of the batting totalling 56, equally Abdullah put in a fantastic shift as he has done on a number of occasions and made a very well needed 48. In the end a great partnership in our middle order when we needed it the most and a much welcomed and deserved third win of the season!
