Northwood Town Cricket Club Lost by 27 runs

Match report NTCC 3s hosted Batchworth this Saturday on a lovely sunny day. Shockingly skipper Gordy lost the toss and the opposition decided to have a first dibs batting on our dry home track.



Well….what a great decision it turned out to be we all thought initially. Our opening bowlers Geet (3 wickets) and Karan (1 wicket) fought brilliantly and maintained superb discipline and tight lines to restrict the opposition at the tea interval to less than 50 runs with 6 wickets down. Celebrations started a little too early after drinks , we lost concentration, discipline and organisation as their middle order batsmen began to take the game away from us at a rapid rate of boundaries. With some clean hitting and several missed catches in the outfield, Batchworth majestically piled up the runs to set a target of 170.



After tea, a fiery spell of opening bowling kept the NTCC run rate in check at 3-4 runs per over. However poor shot selection and the pace outwitted most of the top and middle order. Gutsy batting by our Bollywood hero Pradip who was suffering from Stardom Sickness showed the way with a beautiful knock of 40. At one stage it appeared we would get close to the total with skipper Kish adding a valuable 27 runs to the chase, however further batting confusion left NTCC 27 runs short.



It was a day of “what could have been”….glory and stardom was there for the taking but we introverted and fell into the abyss of uncertainty.
