Match report NTCC travelled to the famed Roxbourne Park ground on Saturday to take on the might Pinner 3s. Sadly skipper Kishan lost the toss and was asked to bat on a gravel track.



Openers Mobeen and Lal set-off fending short pitched, away swinging and generally unpredictable bowling. Mobeen edged a beauty swing away from his body and Lal was joined by youngster Aarya. The scoreboard kept ticking along at 2-3 runs an over, most through extras. Even the bad balls became unplayable due to the voracity of the pitch. After a stalwart and solid batting display, Aarya’s off stump was dislodged to a ball that cut-in and drinks were taken at the 20th over with the score barely touching 50. A few quick wickets after drinks bought in Gordy and trouser-leg pulling prodigy Mitesh to the crease and together they tried to counter-attack the pitch with baseball style swings of the bat. There was some success and along with rapid running and calling between the wickets that could be heard as far as John O’Groats, our two explorers took the score to a respectable 129 in the 40 over allotment (excuse the pun but the pitch did look like an allotment where organic vegetable would have thrived)



After tea Pinner 3s started positively and despite some excellent catches and fielding intertwined with some poor fielding and dropped catches, their top order marched on at 3-4 runs per over. Tight bowling by Sleeping Beauty Karan and our imported Bollywood Superstar Pradip stretched out the inevitable. Mitesh took several fabulous high catches to keep pressure on the run rate however by the 36th over the Grim Reaper was already at the crease and the innings ended with 7 wickets down off an extra wide delivery.
