West Herts III v Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 06 Sep 2025 at 12.00 PM
Northwood Town Cricket Club Lost by 4 wickets

Match report NTCC travelled to West Herts for their final game of the season, with skipper Shah losing the toss and being put in to bat.

Openers Bijendra and Jay started confidently, negotiating the new ball with patience. Jay looked to counterattack, striking a six and a four in successive deliveries, but his aggressive intent was undone by an unplayable delivery that clipped his off stump. Jesant joined Bijendra and built a steady partnership, but a loose shot saw Bijendra caught at mid-on, putting Town under pressure.

Another quick wicket followed before Mitesh steadied the innings with a composed knock, rotating the strike well and punishing the bad balls. Jesant fell while trying to accelerate, and after Mitesh’s dismissal, the lower order struggled to gain momentum. However, Aashir provided a late spark with a six off his first ball and a crisp boundary to follow, helping Town post 161 all out in 40 overs. The total secured six points and confirmed a solid mid-table finish for the season.

With the ball, Jay and Rudra shared the new ball duties. Jay provided the first breakthrough, but West Herts responded aggressively, reaching 41 quickly. Rudra then struck a vital blow, with Jay taking a sharp catch at point to reduce the hosts to 54–2 after 9 overs.

The highlight of the bowling innings came from Keval, who delivered an outstanding spell to claim four wickets, putting Town in with a chance. He was well supported by tidy spells from Jesant and Krunal, who maintained pressure through the middle overs.

Despite a spirited bowling effort, West Herts kept their composure and chased down the target in the 33rd over, finishing on 162–6.

Captain shah said after game: - It was a great season overall. The team spirit and teamwork were great all the way through.

We could have done even better if more players were available for more games, but thanks to everyone who played and gave their best.

Today was our last game of the season, and it ended on a high note! Great batting by Mitesh and Jessie – Mitesh showed once again why he’s such a strong middle-order batsman.

Also, another excellent bowling spell by Keval, who has been very consistent all season.

Thanks to everyone for being part of the team. Let’s come back stronger next season!
