Match report NTCC 3s hosted Wheathampsted 3s at our fabulous ground on Chestnut Avenue. Skipper Gordy won the toss and given historical pitch conditions decided to offer the opposition first bash on the strip.

.....and bash they did. Mediocre bowling coupled with dropped catches and poor fielding allowing quick singles allowed WCC to push on ahead at a rate of 3-4 runs an over before drinks. Their batsmen took advantage of regular loose deliveries and day dreaming fielders. The pitch played fairly and without much sideways movement or grip, the opposition made batting look easy and glorious. WCC racked up an historic 250 for the loss of only 5 wickets in their 40 overs.

NTCC 3s matched their fielding and bowling with an abysmal batting display that would not have even been worthy of free ticket to Bogner Regis pier in the height of summer. Slow run rates and puzzled shot selection meant the chase was a canter and the horizon dwindled rapidly away into the playground at Chestnut avenue in the 24th over.

No excuses this week, this is not how we should apply ourselves if we stand any chance of winning the division.
