Match report On a warm but slightly overcast Saturday the NTCC Mighty 3s welcomed the Chipperfield Clarendon third XI to Chestnut Avenue. Town won the toss and elected to bowl first on a slightly green wicket. Opening bowlers Shah and Puspanathan at first struggled with their lines but soon got into rhythm and were able to make early breakthroughs into the Chipperfield top order assisted by a good catch from Dalwadi. After his usual economic spell Shah was replaced by Tripathi who kept it tight and was rewarded when he trapped the number four batsman plum in front. Some resistance was then struck up as a partnership emerged which was eventually broken from the bowling change to Mohan before another was established quickly but coming on to bowl his spin skipper Gordhandas did the trick and quickly polished off the tail, with Motiwala taking the final wicket to leave Town requiring 114 to win. After the break our openers started positively in trying to knock off the the total but quickly lost Dalwadi and Patel. When Doshi was out after hitting a six and a four in short stay it was down to Tushar Shah to show us how it was done as he got his shots going and taking the total up. When Bentvelzen nicked off however Town still needed a partnership to not let the game slip and it was a captain's innings from Gordhandas that ensured that didn't happen as he played aggressively hitting the ball to the boundary frequently. Despite losing both Shahs late on Town romped home after only 21 overs to seal a hard earned victory. It wasn't the most fluent performance today but we did enough when it counted and fielded reasonably well.
