Northwood Town Cricket Club Midweek v Heathrow CC on Wed 13 Jul 2022 at 5.30pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won By 39 runs

Match report On a sunny evening, Town welcomed Heathrow CC featuring three of our very own Kishan Gordandhas, Hardik Nakum and Bijendra Vaghela. The way they played, you could be fooled into thinking that they played for Town. Winning the toss Town captain N Madhavan opted to bat first on a good pitch. Opening the batting, Jay Patel and Ravi Ramawat gave Town the ideal start putting runs on the board briskly. Town however were massively helped by Heathrow's fielding; who dropped 5 catches in the first 5 overs. Ramawat having 4 of them come from his blade, decided to self retire for 23. Jay Patel was then joined by A Unalkat who together both notched up brilliant 50's and had to be retired, otherwise they could have gone on all night. Notable knocks also came from young Ben Gomersall and Krunal Puwar who scored 18 and 16 respectively. Town eventually finished with a very respectable 183.

Heathrow CC'S innings begun in the best way possible, with Town captain Madhavan opting to bowl seam in the first over of the game and getting smoked all around the park. Rudra Shah bowling the next over, bowled very well and removed Heathrow's very dangerous opener. After getting 50 runs in their first 4 overs, Viral Patel and Krunal Puwar bowled beautifully and bought Town right back into the game with their spells. Town then continued to put pressure on the Heathrow batters, especially on double agent Hardik Nakum who scored a slow 20 before being run out by fellow town teammate Kishan Gordandhas in comical fashion. Notable spells came from Roney Cherian and Karan Varma who bowled very well to bag 4 wickets amongst them. Heathrow couldn't back up their great start and ended up 39 runs short ending up on 144 all out after 20.

After the game, captain Madhavan remarked; Great win, great team performance with everybody except probably myself contributing with match defining performances. Particularly enjoyed watching Jay and Amish bat, who's fluid batting put us in a commanding place and Viral and Krunal's bowling who bought us into the game after a terrible start. Overall, the takeaways from this game were that it was a well earned win, but I still don't believe we fielded very well and this remains an issue for all of us to work on. Also, I will never bowl seam again, even if its against a set of fellow Town teammates.
