Match report NTCC 2’s welcomed West Herts 3’s at home. Stand-in captain Tushar Shah lost the toss and Town was put into bat.

Knowing that the pitch was spongy and the outfield was slow , Openers Tushar Shah and Bijendra Vaghela started the innings patiently against West Herts opening bowler E.Raja who bowled with great line and length and a variety of pace and eventually taking the wicket of Vaghela.After an early wicket, Jesant and Tushar had a small partnership but unfortunately Captain Shah had other plans after hitting a couple boundaries which then led to a top edge straight to the fielder. After his duck from last week ,in came youngster Jay who rotated the strike well with the help of Jesant and were able to accelerate the score before Jesant mistiming a shot to score (26).At 60-3 in 19 overs in stepped in Amit who had a 40 run partnership with Jay but was unfortunately broken after Jay trying to accelerate the score. Meet Agrawal played some aggressive shots for his (12).After being on 117-5 in 34 overs , Town were hoping to reach a score between 150-160 however the bottom batting line up failed to perform leaving Town to end on 138-8 off the 40 overs.

After a short break , NTCC entered the field with positive energy to defend a tough score knowing that the only way to win was by taking early wickets. Openers Meet and Pratik bowled consistent good length balls however West Herts opening batters playing attacking shots led to the bowlers being replaced by Keval and Jesant who also bowled according to the situation but the West Herts batters kept playing the same way and runs were given easily due to poor fielding and some unfortunate dropped catches which added extra pressure on the Town compounded by a couple of runout appeals which did not go in Town's favor. Jesant came into the attack and got the breakthrough by the help of Pratik Patel after a well taken catch giving NTCC some hope. Captain Shah decided to continue with the spinners attack (Kunal,Jesant and Viral) but after the situation not changing for Town he decided to bring pacers Rudra and Keval back who both managed to take a wicket each. After a great effort from the team ,the game was wrapped in the 37th over with NTCC only managing to take 3 wickets.

Captain Shah spoke after the game: “ A great effort from the team , let's stay positive and focus on the next game”. No excuses here but we stay focused and we continue to improve.
