Match report On a dull, slightly cloudy day NTCC hosted neighbours Bushey. The toss was lost and Bushey surprisingly decided to bat first.



What followed can only be described as a batting innings of solidity and cleanliness. The tope order hit the boundaries regularly and NTCC missed catches regularly. These dropped chances cost us dearly, it was young Aarya who held the first catch at square leg, however continued poor fielding allowed the opposition to reach a seemingly impenetrable 189 for 4 off their 40 overs. Straighter bowling and tighter lines would have probably restricted the bowling by 30-40 runs and with catches held we could have been chasing a target of 100-120…..but alas cricket is always the game of what could have been. Credit to the 3 bowlers who took the wickets, Mandar two, Jay one and our own Bollywood Superstar Pradip one wicket.



Well, what a game this is and how the situation can change. Our young opener Jay decided that no score was too high enough nor was the mountain of runs to steep enough. With aplomb he set about hitting the strike rate and damaging the shine on the ball. He smashed a superb 43 at a strike rate of 90+ to set the tone for the rest of the innings. Strong support from Pradip (who we had heard from the Bollywood glitterati had returned to Bollywood City for deep transcendental meditation with a local bowling machine) added another 29 to the score and kept us firmly on track. It was left to our quiet unsung hero Mandar to frustrate and blow apart the fielding positions with regular boundaries. A final superb and calm innings saw Mandar reach 62 not out and NTCC sublimely easing past the total in the 33rd over.



A much deserved win particularly in the negative manner in which the opposition played the game….one for them to reflect on sadly. For us we know we can bat, we just need to ensure that the switch is set to “on”.
